Expressing Awe and Devotion

When do you bow your head and when do you raise your head as reverence?
I have followed many spiritual paths. They have all led me to the same place – my heart.
I have thought about all the times I look up, look down, or look straight ahead. Amazingly, I have discovered that each of my paths has me looking in a direction, yet all the directions show me the light within.
When I come to Buddha, I place my hands on my heart, look straight ahead, and smile.
When I come to Christ, I genuflect, make the sign of the cross, and raise my head and am often filled with tears of gratitude.
When I come to Mother Earth, I spread my arms, invoke my prayers, and bow my head as a sign of reciprocity.
I honor all these paths as One. Opening, raising, and bowing to the Light in me: the Buddha, the Christ, and the Sacred Earth that lives in me as me.
OM. Shanti. Amen. Aho.
Breathing into the Unknown
Tuesday, March 5th, 2013
You are here. Not knowing, never knew. Never needed to and never will. If your thoughts float to the past, you can bring them back with love. If your thoughts wander too far into the future, you can bring them back with love. When we choose to live in this moment, we choose a direct path to our heart and the divine. Being present to this moment right now means being home. Welcome home. (Photo by Mary Anne Flanagan)
Be With What Is
Saturday, March 2nd, 2013
What do your eyes see right in front of you?
What does your heart feel in this moment?
What joyful thoughts are you listening to?
What is your body sensing?
What is your breath exhaling?
Where is your mind?
Be with what is in front of you – Be with what is.

Hang Out with Joy
Thursday, February 21st, 2013
Meditation: A worried mind is a wasted mind. Why not waste time with play, with joy, with peace, with laughter, and with serenity? Spend time there and see how you feel. Hang out with joy. Invite others to hang out with joy. Have a joy(full) party.
Enjoy spending time with joy.
Meditations to Warm Your Soul
Wednesday, February 20th, 2013
Have you wanted to start a meditation practice? Or do you want to deepen your meditation practice? Start by drawing your breath inward and allow yourself to take a deep dive into your heart.
In our busy lives, we rarely experience an extended period of quiet. For our meditation session(s), we will enter the quiet within ourselves as a way to deepen our connection to our soul’s journey. You are invited to enter the space of Being, rather than Doing.
Our 45-minute meditations will open you to thinking differently about meditation. Meditation is about zoning in, not zoning out. Our session(s) may include looking at where your mind wanders, focusing your gaze, guided visualizations, making movement an integral part of our lives, resonating with a (personal) mantra, and stepping more fully into your thoughts. All levels of students are welcome. You may book as many sessions as you want through March 29, 2013. Each session is 45-minutes and will take place on the phone.
What to Bring: A notebook and pen, water
Investment: $50 in (No refunds.)
Register: by texting your name and ‘Meditation Session’ to 917.238.9726.

Sit. Just Sit.
Monday, February 11th, 2013
Meditation is a practice of unknowing. When you just sit, you let each breath teach you. When you allow thoughts to flow through you, you learn from each moment.
Breath by breath.
Moment by moment.
Sit. Just sit.
Unthought Known
Friday, January 25th, 2013
Move into doing the impossible and notice how much your heart expands.
Move into doing the uncertain and notice how much your mind expands.
Move into doing the unattainable and watch how much your body expands.
Move into doing the unknown and watch how much your life expands.
The Heart of Nature

Always remember that Nature refuses to be rushed. She can only be made to evolve and that takes time… Take heart! ~Sri Dharma Mittra
We Have What We Need
Thursday, January 17th, 2013
“This is a work in progress, a process of uncovering our natural openness, uncovering our natural intelligence and warmth. I have discovered, just as my teachers always told me, that we already have what we need. The wisdom, the strength, the confidence, the awakened heart and mind are always accessible, here, now, always. We are just uncovering them. We are rediscovering them. We’re not inventing them or importing them from somewhere else. They’re here. That’s why when we feel caught in darkness, suddenly the clouds can part. Out of nowhere we cheer up or relax or experience the vastness of our minds. No one else gives this to you. People will support you and help you with teachings and practices, as they have supported and helped me, but you yourself experience your unlimited potential.”
